Just a few more days 'till FREEDOM!!!

We have been having our noses at the grindstone for weeks.  Wait let me say that with more emphasis.  FOR WEEKS!!!  Lindsay is almost done with her student teaching, and honestly it has been . . . an interesting learning experience (we're trying to put a positive spin on it).  She was at Edith Bowen Lab School on campus, but is almost done and glad to have recoop over Christmas Break.

Teddy has also had his nose to the grindstone and is working on a research paper as we speak.  Sometime we think about the awesome adventures we would have if it weren't for school, but then we remember that we want jobs when we grow up :)  Yeah, I guess jobs are good.

Even with all the craziness we have had a blast this fall and went on some amazing adventures.

Dirt roads are always better.

Up by Strawberry Reservoir.  This could totally be a calendar picture.

Look at those awesome colors!

A random guy stopped on this dirt road while we were trying to set up the camera on the top of the car and asked us if he could take our picture for us.  He owned a huge chunk of land up by Strawberry Reservoir.  I would totally stay in his cabins if we ever got a chance to.

We never can get enough of Aspens in the fall.  We wish we could do some more hard-core camping this time of year.

Love this perspective!

Cute girl and an economy car.  What else is there in life?

This one we did have to take with our car as the tripod.  When will we learn to bring it along?!

First fish of our day at Strawberry.

Two cute boys and a nasty slimy fish :P

Fall foliage up at Mutual Dell

This is Galileo.  He travels around Cache Valley and visits new places.  Lindsay's third graders get to guess where he is everyday (if there is time, which there hasn't been for weeks).  Here he is at Tony's Grove.  It was an icicle up there!

Teddy at Hyrum Dam on our Galileo adventure day.

Galileo at Porcupine Reservoir

Galileo at the Duck Park.  He really wanted to chase the ducks . . . but we had to tell him no.  Poor puppy.

Well...

So we haven't updated our blog in quite a while... Here's some of the fun we've been having
They are really hard to see in this picture... but there are Sandhill Crane in the field behind our house. We see these guys all the time.

Fun riding the zip-line at Mutual Dell

Teddy went hiking with Isabell and Brylee to Julie Andrews Meadow... Watch out for bees!

We had fun having a picnic at Card then playing in the water at Bear Lake

These pictures are not for the faint of heart... Teddy had a little accident while helping make applesauce... he's always trying to get out of canning.

Father's Day Weekend

So we haven't posted for a while.  Fail.  I find that I usually start out our posts like this.  I am going to try and do better so that people actually know what is going on in our lives, and we have a cool blog, rather than be the guys that have the stupid blog  that no one wants to read because the last time they posted was in January.

Moving and Dog:  We moved to Mendon.  Our ward is fantastic, but we haven't been very much due to crazy weekend stuff.  We got a puppy the Monday after we moved into Mendon and she was so fun.  Her name was Moab and she was a Golden Retriever/Weimaraner cross.  She was super cute and we loved her, even though she was timid at first.  I loved her little whiskers about her eyebrows and her soft floppy ears.  She was a great snuggle buddy and fantastic on walks.  And we have never gotten so many compliments on a dog!  However, we had to sell her about a month later because of yard complications and the fact that she had a super thin coat of fur, and we didn't feel it would be good on her to be out in the frigid snowfields of Mendon or cramped up in a tiny kennel inside.  We sold her to a great home and we hope they enjoy her.

Picnic Adventures:  We have pretty much lived up the canyon this summer what with breakfasting up there every morning on Teddy's break and half the time eating lunch or dinner up there too.  Needless to say, we have had a lot of cereal and hot dogs this summer.  Not a fantastic diet to be sure, so we plan on amending that soon.  Not today - tomorrow :)
One time, there were caterpillars falling from the trees!  We think it was probably the smoke . . .

Two cute kids

Moab was climbing the tree to try and get up it to capture Teddy. Right after this was when we went to sell her.  We also threw her in the river.  She liked it, but oops, she was all wet for the ride to her new home.

Father's Day/Teddy and Lou 2nd Anniversary/1st Anniversary of Dad's Death Weekend: We had so much fun this last weekend celebrating what a great guy our Dad Draper was.  We honored him by having a backyard camp-out under the stars.  Everyone but Mom slept outside on Friday and it was so much fun (even if I was scared of demon spiders).  We ate lots of yummy food (gourmet hamburgers, homemade ice-cream, dutch oven chicken and potatoes, cobbler, tacos and pineapple nut cake) and got started on a major project: cleaning up the backyard.  We hit the woodshed and next to the metal shed hard this time.  We found all sorts of treasures including an old mower blade (not lawnmower!) and some pretty cool yokes.  Sara and I even discovered that there is cement by the metal shed!  I honestly thought that it was dirt . . . To top off the fun and fantastic festivities, Teddy and I had made some pretty sweet bow and arrows for the kids out of PVC pipe and dowels.  Teddy thinks that they would be perfect for rabbit hunting, but we made the kids promise not point them at each other.  However, this is hard to enforce when Teddy and Jess are sneaking around the house trying to nail each other.  Sunday was good - we skipped out on most of church so that we could eat earlier, and we had fun sharing memories of Dad.  Teddy and I exchanged anniversary presents and he surprised me with a gorgeous bracelet made out of antique silverware!  He is always so sneaky about his gift purchases; I was right with him while he got it. (Teddy note:  It was so hard to get Lindsay to go back to the booth at SummerFest.  Then she wanted to leave before it was ready!  I had already paid for it and the lady was struggling putting the safety chain on.  She probably would have been okay if she wasn't trying to look inconspicuous.  As Lindsay started to head out, I had to try and stall her and so I said 'look at these wind chimes.'  Yeah it was pretty obvious but it worked!)  It was a fantastic weekend dotted with good memories both new and old.
Making Strawberry ice-cream!  YAY!

The whole gang outside - Indi wanted to come on the tarp SO bad!

Making bacon, eggs and pancakes Saturday morning

Teddy making arrows

Cutie Mama - She has been so strong this past year.

Such hard working boys . . .

and girls . . .

and menehunes!

Sick!  Kole and Indi were good buddies this weekend.

Getting ready for the big surprise - What could it be?

Picking the bows

I just love how Maylee is holding the bow :)

Painting our arrows

We decided to tie the feathers on like you tie a fly.  It worked great and Teddy is now a professional arrow feather tier.

Beautiful sunset - doesn't do it justice

Second anniversary and still loving life!  Do you see my pretty bracelet?

Well from here on out hopefully we will keep everyone a little bit more updated!  We love our life and love our everyday adventures!
